What does Labyrinth Visual specialize in?Labyrinth Visual specializes in cinematic 3D animation and rendering but is also skilled in 2D motion design for motion graphics. While we don’t focus on traditional hand-drawn animation, we’re creative and resourceful, capable of mimicking any style.
-
Who do you work with?We collaborate with brands, filmmakers, marketing teams, game developers, and creative agencies. We are always open to discussing new avenues of collaboration.
-
Where is Labyrinth Visual located? We’re a remote-first studio based in the Greater Chicago Area, working with clients worldwide. For larger projects, we prioritize local talent to support Chicago’s creative community.
-
What animation services do you offer? We offer: 3D Animation & CGI – Character animation, product visualization, architectural rendering, and immersive experiences. Motion Graphics – Engaging visuals for ads, branding, and explainers. Simulations - Animation for testing real world scenarios relative to product or service. Visual Effects – CGI integration for film, TV, and digital content. Previsualization, Lookdev – Concept development, preproduction planning, and animation testing. IP Development – Creating original animated properties, both in-house and commissioned.
-
How long does an animation project take?Project timelines vary based on scope, complexity, and revisions. A 30-second animated ad may take 4–6 weeks, while a short film or full animation package could take several months. Variables like style, detail, and feedback cycles can also impact duration.
-
What software do you use for animation? We use Unreal Engine, Autodesk Media and Entertainment Collection, Adobe Creative Suite and proprietary tools to create our stunning animations.
-
Can I invest in one of your original IPs?Yes! We don’t just welcome it—we encourage it. With expertise across the entire production pipeline, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver. Our original animated properties are moving forward, and we’re open to strategic partnerships, investments, and collaborations to accelerate development—whether for our IP or yours. As an independent studio, we’re fully flexible and even open to offering IP equity to artists looking to grow their experience. Let’s talk!
-
Do you accept co-productions or joint ventures?Absolutely! If you have an idea or want to co-produce, let’s talk. We prioritize partnerships that align with our storytelling values and believe in lifting others as we grow.
-
Can I hire Labyrinth Visual for a single project?Yes! We handle one-off projects, long-term collaborations, and ongoing retainer work. Whether you need a single animated ad or a full-scale production (audio included), we’ve got you covered.
-
Do you use AI in your animation process?Yes, but responsibly. As a small but mighty team, we use AI-assisted workflows for efficiency in preproduction (e.g., storyboarding, previs) and for some remedial tasks such as rotoscoping, while keeping storytelling, character animation, and final rendering entirely human-driven. We also leverage generative AI for pitch deck content and proofs of concept, as seen in Unconditional and Giant of Helsinki on our IP page.
-
What’s the difference between CGI, 3D animation, and motion graphics?CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) is an umbrella term for digital visuals, encompassing 3D animation, motion graphics, VFX, previs, look development, and more. 3D Animation brings fully animated characters and scenes to life in a 3D space (think Pixar films). Motion Graphics animate text, logos, and graphic elements for ads, branding, and explainers, in both 2D and/or 3D.
-
Can you match a specific animation style?Yes! We can create a realistic, stylized, cartoon, or hyper-cinematic look tailored to your project. Just send us references, and we’ll craft a unique style that fits. Keep in mind, the more realistic the style, the more complex—and costly—the production process becomes.
-
Do you sign NDAs for confidential projects?Absolutely. We strictly enforce NDAs for both clients and collaborating artists to ensure confidentiality.
-
Who owns the animation after delivery?Ownership varies by agreement. Typically though: Client projects → You own the final animation. Co-productions → Shared rights. Our original IPs → Owned by Labyrinth Visual, open to investment. We also include a standard clause allowing us to showcase client work for promotion of our company, though all other rights remain yours.
-
How many revisions do you allow? We include two rounds of revisions in most contracts. Additional revisions usually require extra fees, and possibly a new or amended contract, depending on complexity.
-
I noticed you have an Animation Cost Estimator - Does that provide an accurate quote?Short answer? No. ACE is our tool for giving you a ballpark estimate while you explore options. We designed it to be fun and user-friendly, but due to animation's many variables, a detailed project breakdown is needed for an accurate quote.
-
Do you require upfront payment?Yes. We typically require a 50% deposit before starting work and the remaining 50% upon project completion, with milestone-based payments for larger projects.
